The History of Golgota Bible School

After the Revolution in 1990, Costica Morariu, with his team, started the GOLGOTHA MISSION with the goal of doing evangelism in the villages around Romania. We started organizing gospel meetings in the village halls and towns halls around the city of Sibiu in Transylvania. God indeed blessed the work and we had the joy of seeing hundreds of people coming to know the Lord. As a result God enabled us to plant churches in villages where there was no evangelical witness. We continued to do this type of ministry until 1992.

In one of the villages we worked in many people started coming to know the Lord. So, we decided to start a church there. When we visited the new believers, we realized that the Jehovah's Witnesses had come in and made contact with our converts. They had even started a regular meeting with them. Their strategy had been to attend our evangelistic meetings, note those who were showing interest or had received the Lord and follow them up as though they were a part of our ministry. We realized then that we needed people to come on board to disciple our new converts. We tried to get believers from local churches who would be willing to care for and disciple the new converts in the faith. However, we could not find people trained enough to do this ministry.

Then Costica had the vision of training people who could do this type of work. We prayed about it and through a miracle God provided a house for us to buy in the village of Talmaciu. But because it was too small for our purpose, we decided to add a dining room and a kitchen. For the first winter school session we had about 41 students who were staying with families from the local church in Talmaciu.



The lectures had to be held in the dining room. But, this proved to be very difficult for teaching while meals were being prepared. More young people were showing interest in studying the Word. We had to expand our facility. With much prayer and the help of God’s people we began building dormitory space and then we added a lecture hall above dining room.

By 1994 the present building was finished. God had used many people from near and far to help us with this enormous project. Many of the gifts that were given came in anonymously. Today we still don’t know for sure where all the help came from. We do know that God supplied it.
